At Signature HealthCARE, Spirituality is one of the pillars of our company’s vision to radically change the landscape of healthcare forever. Chaplains serve our Stakeholders and Residents in each home in the Signature family. They work hard to enhance the quality of life each Stakeholder and Elder in our homes by promoting the integration of spirituality and faith into many aspects of care.
On January 24th our home hosted a Blessing of the Hands Ceremony. Our Chaplain and Director of Spirituality, Rev. Chris Wyckoff, planned this service which was led with the assistance of special guests, Chaplain Gail Smith and Chaplain Ann Ritter of University of North Carolina Health Care. “It is my hope that this service will help our stakeholders and volunteers launch the new year with an act of rededication to the service of our Elders.”, says Rev. Wyckoff.
Stakeholders from each department joined guests from the Chapel Hill community and local ministers who serve as volunteers in our home for the service. An opening invocation and prayer was led by Chaplain Smith. Chaplain Ritter, also led a responsive reading. Then each Chaplain, surrounded by Stakeholders and volunteers, prayed an individual prayer of blessing for each one in their circle. One volunteer who attended the service thankfully shared, “My heart was filled with so much joy. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of such a great service.”
After the service, many remained to enjoy food and fellowship, making new connections between the ministries and volunteers that serve our Elders.
