The Power of Mercy

CH mercy 1

When I think of powerful things, many images come to mind–an F-35 fighter jet, Niagara Falls, a grizzly bear, a Navy Seal. God’s mercy was way off my radar. However, a recent article that I read has changed my perspective. The article quoted from a sermon by Charles Spurgeon over 100 years ago, yet it is as relevant today as it was then. Here’s what it said:

Four Chapel Hill Residents and Stakeholders go to Disney World

Four of our stakeholders and residents are enjoying a special vacation to Disney World. Signature HealthCARE offers these unique vacations each year to a few of our residents – many of whom have never been on a “real” vacation in their lifetime.

It’s a privilege to see the smiles on their faces as they fulfill a dream of a lifetime!

Senior Olympics at Signature HealthCARE of Chapel Hill

On Friday, September 11, 2015, some of our wonderful residents participated in the Signature HealthCARE Senior Olympics for North Carolina.

Under beautiful blue skies, our resident team of senior olympians gave their best efforts in sporting events such as outdoor bowling, basketball, cornhole, pong toss, shot put, and wheelchair races.

It was a fun and rewarding day for everyone involved. The event was held in Roanoke Rapids this year and included a hamburger and hot dog cookout for the residents and staff.

Our own Pearlie Jones won the silver medal in the pong toss event.

CNA Celebration Week at Signature HealthCARE of Chapel Hill

We celebrated National CNA Week at Signature HealthCARE of Chapel Hill by having special events on each day of the week, and having a special way to dress for each day. Our Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) are the foundation of our care for each of our dear residents.

They provide the daily hands-on care that is essential for the well-being of each person who lives at Chapel Hill. They rarely get the recognition and thanks that they deserve, so a special week of celebration was one way we could let our CNAs know how much we appreciate their care.

There were many special meals provided during the week that included a late night BBQ on Saturday Night for the 2nd and 3rd shift nursing team. Bringing a smile to our CNAs this week was our goal, and we treasure their work every week of the year!
