When I think of powerful things, many images come to mind–an F-35 fighter jet, Niagara Falls, a grizzly bear, a Navy Seal. God’s mercy was way off my radar. However, a recent article that I read has changed my perspective. The article quoted from a sermon by Charles Spurgeon over 100 years ago, yet it is as relevant today as it was then. Here’s what it said:
News & Updates
Four of our stakeholders and residents are enjoying a special vacation to Disney World. Signature HealthCARE offers these unique vacations each year to a few of our residents – many of whom have never been on a “real” vacation in their lifetime.
It’s a privilege to see the smiles on their faces as they fulfill a dream of a lifetime!
On Friday, September 11, 2015, some of our wonderful residents participated in the Signature HealthCARE Senior Olympics for North Carolina.
Under beautiful blue skies, our resident team of senior olympians gave their best efforts in sporting events such as outdoor bowling, basketball, cornhole, pong toss, shot put, and wheelchair races.
It was a fun and rewarding day for everyone involved. The event was held in Roanoke Rapids this year and included a hamburger and hot dog cookout for the residents and staff.
Our own Pearlie Jones won the silver medal in the pong toss event.
Signature HealthCARE is proud to once again be named to Modern Healthcare’s list of “Best Places to Work in Healthcare!” Only 100 nominees make the list each year and this is the fourth time Signature HealthCARE has been named to the list! The ranked order of nominees will be revealed in October.

Signature HealthCARE of Chapel Hill had a string and flute quintet play for our residents while they received manicures and pedicures from our volunteer stylists at First Korean Baptist Church of Chapel Hill!
The quintet had five local teenagers who volunteered to play some classical favorites for our residents’ enjoyment. Two violins, a cello and two flutes filled the air with wonderful sounds.
“You never get too old to enjoy life,” said a 91-year-old Signature resident who traveled to Panama City Beach, Fla. earlier this year, the fourth consecutive year Signature has taken groups of residents on vacation. Check out the video above for highlights from the trip, and be sure to click the links below for additional coverage.
Signature HealthCARE of Chapel Hill resident, Nancy Clark, received an award recently for her outstanding artwork. Nancy painted a portrait of some sunflowers for the Reflect-N-Us art contest at Signature HealthCARE.
Nancy was the runner up for first prize among many other competing artists. She received her award and some prizes from our staff. She is pictured above with our CEO, Turner Prickett, Director of Nursing Theresa Gambill, Admissions Director Tara Edwards, and Activities Director Kathy Wright-Moore and her staff.
Signature HealthCARE received the citation in the ‘Facilitating Organizational Change’ category for its Executive CNA Program. The award recognizes organizations for results achieved through the use of practices and solutions from the entire scope of talent development.

We celebrated National CNA Week at Signature HealthCARE of Chapel Hill by having special events on each day of the week, and having a special way to dress for each day. Our Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) are the foundation of our care for each of our dear residents.
They provide the daily hands-on care that is essential for the well-being of each person who lives at Chapel Hill. They rarely get the recognition and thanks that they deserve, so a special week of celebration was one way we could let our CNAs know how much we appreciate their care.
There were many special meals provided during the week that included a late night BBQ on Saturday Night for the 2nd and 3rd shift nursing team. Bringing a smile to our CNAs this week was our goal, and we treasure their work every week of the year!
